Putting the Communication Factory into service
01What you will do #sec_27e77fb2
Prepare a complete sending chain for the subscription: choose the service that delivers the messages, authenticate a domain, declare the senders, and then test the templates from the catalog.
The configuration is located in Settings > Communication. It affects the reputation of the organization's domains and must be performed by an authorized subscription administrator.
02The four levers #sec_ba6337a2
The Communication screen brings together four complementary capabilities.
| Capability | Role |
|---|---|
| Email provider | Determines the infrastructure that delivers the messages |
| Sending domains | Prove that the organization controls the domains used |
| Senders | Declares the identities visible to recipients |
| Email catalog | Governs the content, languages, and associated events |
The order is important. A template cannot produce a credible sending without a sender, a sender depends on an authorized domain, and the domain is authenticated for a given sending configuration.
03Two delivery modes #sec_06f31b64
The subscription can use the REVIEWIT sending service. The underlying infrastructure is then operated by REVIEWIT and does not need to be administered by the client.
It can also connect its own account with BYOP — Bring Your Own Provider. The currently supported providers are SendGrid, Mailgun, Amazon SES, and Scaleway Transactional Email. The organization retains its contract, quotas, domains, and sending reputation; REVIEWIT uses the configuration it delegates to it.
The private SMTP relay is a planned extension, but it is not yet offered as an activatable route in the Subscription Manager.
04Understanding default values #sec_00e4ef99
A subscription can maintain multiple configurations. Only one route is used by default, and only one active sender serves as a reference.
These two choices remain consistent: if you designate as the default sender an address attached to another active configuration, the Subscription Manager warns you and proposes to also switch the default route. An inactive configuration remains visible for administration, but it cannot become the effective route.
05Who controls what? #sec_a021c0fe
The provider supplies the technical values necessary for authentication. The domain owner publishes them in the service that actually hosts its DNS zone. This service can be different from the registrar, the mail provider, and REVIEWIT.
REVIEWIT does not become the owner of the domain or the provider account. The Subscription Manager retains only the necessary delegation to make communication operational.
06Your journey #sec_d189d13e
Proceed in this order:
- [Choose and connect the sending service](tuto-communication-factory-provider).
- [Authenticate a domain and declare the senders](tuto-communication-factory-domains-senders).
- [Test, publish, and operate communications](tuto-communication-factory-catalog-operation).
At the end, you must be able to send a test message from the catalog with a published template, an active sender, and a verified domain.
07Key Takeaways #sec_0d60ce2b
The Communication Factory is not just an API key. It connects a business intent, governed content, an authorized sending identity, and a chosen delivery infrastructure. This separation allows the use of the REVIEWIT service or its own infrastructure without changing the operation of campaigns.
